Yakut State Unified Museum of the History and Culture of the Peoples of the North. Eat. Yaroslavsky.

   March 12 (February 27) 1887 Yakutsk Regional Statistical Committee on the initiative of Secretary A.I. Popova decided to create a local museum. The reason for making such a decision was the skull of a fossil bison, found in 1886 on the bank of the Vilyui River and sent to the statistical committee of the head of the I Chochuyu legacy of the Vilyui district, Semyon Yegorov. By this time the first museums appeared in Siberia, interest in Yakutia had increased, as a promising resource base rich in minerals. The first exposition of the museum was opened on June 7 (May 26) in 1891.

   The exposition of the nature department acquaints with the physical and geographical characteristics of Yakutia, the diversity of minerals and rocks encountered here, the richness of flora and fauna. The exposition includes stuffed animals and skeletons, including the skeletons of the Tirekhtyakh mammoth and the bowhead whale, stuffed animals of the Amur tiger, snow sheep, lynx, wood grouses, Siberian Cranes, etc., materials about the Shergin mine, diamond mining, etc. The exposition is decorated with aquariums with live fish.

    The exposition of archeology and ethnography shows the culture of the small peoples of the North (Yukaghirs, Evenes, Evenks) and Sakha people, their traditional occupations, way of life, religious beliefs, customs, rituals and traditions. It features a bronze pot of 1 thousand BC, a bronze sword of 1 thousand BC, an ancient Yakut spear of the XIX century, burial of a bull of the XIX century, internal types of a traditional dwelling of northern peoples, dwellings of the Yakuts - a booth and other

    The exposition of the history department shows the events of Yakutia joining the Russian Empire, the process of integration of the peoples of Yakutia into the all-Russian state system, the formation and development of statehood in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). It is supplemented with exhibitions "Relics of the Great Patriotic War", "Teachers-front-line soldiers". Presented are: a small collection of arms of Russian Cossacks, explorers, Cossack banners, mock-ups of the tower of the Yakut prison, Zashiverskaya church, a memorial plate from the first stone building of the city of Yakutsk - the Provincial Chancellery of 1707, etc.

Museum of the Mammoth.

   The Mammoth Museum in Yakutsk is the only specialized museum in the world that studies and exhibits unique paleontological artifacts.

During the archaeological excavations in the depths of Yakutia, archaeologists have discovered unique finds - cave lions, mammoths, buffalo, woolly rhinoceros, musk oxen and other extinct animals. You can see all this with your own eyes in this museum.

   Yakutia provides 95% of Russian diamond production and 15% of gold production. In addition, in Yakut land there is almost the entire periodic table. In the treasury, in several halls hundreds of precious stones, gold bars, gold sand, precious handmade jewelery of local craftsmen are collected.

Museum of the Khomus people of the world.

   In our city there is the only Khomus Museum in the world, which is distinguished by the originality and uniqueness of the fund treasures, the most complete collection of relic instruments of musical folklore of the peoples of the world. In our museum more than 575 different khomuses and similar instruments of the peoples of 43 countries of the world are concentrated.

Ethnographic complex Chochur Muran.

   In the territory of the complex Chochur-Muran you can see a lot of animals and birds: Yakut horses with deer, swans, wild and domestic geese with ducks, and also Yakut husky (husky). Here you can also ride a dog sled and sleigh rides.

   Chochur-Muran can be considered a complex of museums, with themes of the originality of this region of different periods. Here you can find harmoniously intertwined with modernity, interiors of the Soviet era and pre-revolutionary times.

The Kingdom of Permafrost

   A giant glacier in the heart of the mountain, here you can see the permafrost with your own eyes. In winter -10, in summer -4 degrees. Inside you can see anything from the ice: tableware, musical instruments, sculptures and even chess pieces.

Arch house

   Archy's house is the center of the spiritual culture of the Yakuts, where you can get acquainted with the history of the religion of the indigenous peoples of Yakutia. The building is in the form of a large tent and decorated in a national style.

   Yakut rite of blessing. In the traditions of the Yakuts it is customary to meet with this rite every guest who came from afar. The ritual action is aimed at establishing a person's connection with nature, spiritual cleansing. The pattern begins with the burning of grass, according to Yakut beliefs, evil spirits do not tolerate smoke. Then the algyschit fires the fire and "treats" the fire with oil, horsehair or cake, provoking the favor of the deities of ayy. At the end of the rite, the guest is brought choron with koumiss. Algys is accompanied by a toyuk, playing on a khomus or a tambourine
