What attracts tourists Old Kolyma route?

The old Kolyma route is called that part of the Kolyma tract, which runs from the Kubume section to the right of the main (new) highway. On this narrow road through the mountains you can reach Tomtor and Oymyakon. If this route to the section of the crossing (the bridge over the Indigirka River) is still somehow being repaired by the local residents, then the roads have not been repaired since 2004 for the crossing to Kadykchan (the junction point of the abandoned highway with the main one). The reason is a new road through the regional center of Oymyakon - Ust-Neru. And the old abandoned part of the route with a length of almost 350 km has become virtually useless. Although recently it began to use local hunters-poachers: so they are much quicker to reach untouched places with an abundance of animals. A couple of times on this route passed German motorcyclists, about 10 years ago.

The abandoned part of the Kolyma track is a living monument of the past. Here found their sad end to the fate of thousands of prisoners of the Gulag. Not far from the road you can see fences with barbed wire, barracks, prisons, mines, bakeries and various remains of that era. But the track is interesting not only this: the nature is unique and graceful here! Magnificent stone mountains, the largest ice in the Oymyakonsky district (from the Yakut "Taryng"), the purest mountain streams, untouched, long forgotten landscapes, freely walking on the slopes of the mountains. Snow sheep - Chubuku, reindeer - all this will not leave indifferent any guest! And besides this, it is possible, on occasion, to fish or collect mountain medicinal herbs.


Tour condition.

- Tourists have to choose by preference Quadbike or Tilt UAZ. It is necessary to take into account the fact that for safety and insurance purposes our off-road cars go there in pairs. On the old highway many bridges are broken, there are many cliffs and dangerous places. Some small rivers need to be melted into a ford.

- Tourists will spend the night during a tour in tents. If necessary - with stove heating.

- 3 meals a day: meals will be cooked at the stake.

- During the tour, you can try to drive yourself if you have the right to drive.

Tomtor - Ferry - Khatynnakh - Yus-Sirei - Khara-Khaya - Taring - Kuraanah Salaa - Hope - Third - Belichan and back.
